The origins of Potato Day date to October 1895, when farmers brought newly harvested potatoes and other produce by the wagonload to Greeley’s Lincoln Park. The modern festival, sponsored by the Friends of Greeley Museums, is held at Centennial Village near Island Grove Regional Park. Visitors can stroll through the grounds and watch demonstrations of domestic arts and chores from days gone by. A bake sale, musical and dance entertainment, children’s activities, and free baked potatoes round out this celebration of Greeley’s history.
